CHRISTIANA, Wis. — A shed filled with ammunition in rural Dane County went up in flames Tuesday afternoon.
Officials with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire at 2142 Utica Rd. in the town of Christiana. When deputies arrived, they found a large shed fully engulfed in flames in addition to a large garage that had also caught fire.
According to a news release, the buildings were filled with multiple vehicles, including snowmobiles, ATVs, bicycles and a trailer. When crews arrived, they also heard ammunition going off inside the building.
Early estimates put the damages at nearly $800,000.
Fire investigators and the ATF responded to the fire and are working to determine the cause of the fire.
