MADISON, Wis. — A dozen new police and justice reform bills are being introduced to the Wisconsin state legislature.
The package of bills, called “Enough is Enough,” is being introduced by Democratic State Rep. David Bowen of Milwaukee. The 12 bills backed by Democrats would include new training and policies, enhanced accountability and transparency measures, and other new policies Bowen says will save lives in Wisconsin.
“This is our chance for transformation, this is our chance to be able to significantly shift a number of different decisions and protocols when it comes to how decisions are made with charging, how citizens are engaging with front end interactions with law enforcement,” said Bowen.
The bills also aim to make it easier to fire officers that have violated policies.
