DODGEVILLE, Wis. — A physician from southwest Wisconsin is being recognized for going above and beyond in her profession.
Dr. Emily Jewell is a physician with SSM Health in Dodgeville. She grew up on a farm in southwest Wisconsin and new from a young age she wanted to help serve farmers.
She says farmers work long hours and are usually under-insured, so she decided to bring services to them — on a bus.
Those efforts were the reason she recently received the “Superhero of Medicine” award.
“This award is really for the community coming together to take care of each other, and that is really a superhero-like effort, but it’s not me, it’s all of them,” Jewell said.
Dr. Jewell says she is donating to a non-profit along with getting the award.
