MADISON, Wis. — Madison Public Library hosted the first in a series of health and wellness events Sunday afternoon.
In addition to offering tools for self-care, Live Well at Your Library is an opportunity for attendees to engage in community conversations.
“We’re really looking to get some good feedback from people who are in the community to help kind of tailor future events,” said MPL Marketing Specialist Liz Boyd. “We really want this to be a listening session as well as you know here’s what we think you would like.”
Boyd also said the library is especially hoping these events will help reach communities of color which are often underrepresented.
Event attendee Monica Howard said she’s looking forward to seeing what these conversation bring up.
“Having such a diverse group here today I think the conversations will be very beneficial for us to talk about various issues and a great starting point is wellness,” she said.
Sunday’s event featured chair yoga, crafting, dance, and self-guided writing.
The series will continue at a new library location on the 4th Sunday of each month through September.
Future events will focus on renewal, restoration, and celebration.
