An area rural educator is entering the race for Wisconsin’s state school superintendent. Pecatonica Area School District Superintendent Jill Underly declared her candidacy on Thursday. She has been serving as superintendent at Pecatonica since 2015. Prior to that, she was an assistant director at the state Department of Public Instruction. Underly has also been an academic advisor at UW-Madison and a high school teacher. Voters will choose the next state superintendent in a general election next April. Incumbent state Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor announced in January that she won’t run for the post again.
