MADISON, Wis. — Police arrested a man Monday after a woman’s vehicle was stolen while she was delivering packages on Madison’s west side.
According to an incident report, the victim left her car, a black 2018 Honda CRV, running while delivering a package in the 400 block of Wild Indigo Lane. When she was out of her car, another vehicle pulled up next to hers. A man got out and entered her vehicle.
The woman stood in front of her vehicle to stop the man from driving off, but he was able to maneuver around her. Both vehicles then drove away.
Around 11 a.m., the stolen vehicle was spotted at the BP gas station at 699 South Gammon Road. Police responded and saw a man enter the vehicle before driving off.
As the driver was fleeing, 21-year-old Jamontaye A. Williams exited the vehicle’s passenger seat and ran from police.
Police tracked Williams down and took him into custody. He was taken to the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of operating a vehicle without consent (passenger) and resisting and obstructing an officer.
Authorities have not found the stolen car. Their investigation is ongoing.
