MADISON, Wis. — The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County is holding a 50-mile walk to raise awareness for the organization’s upcoming MOVE4BGC campaign.
The 50-mile walk marks the final week of fundraising before the MOVE4BGC event scheduled for July 17. The BGCDC is hoping to raise $1.2 million as part of this year’s campaign. So far the group has raised $1.1 million.
The awareness walk will kick off at 4 a.m. Saturday from the McKenzie Family Club in Sun Prairie.
From there, the group will walk to McPike Park on South Ingersoll Street, which will mark the beginning of a two-mile Black history walking tour through downtown Madison led by Wisconsin Historical Society. The group is expected to arrive at McPike Park around 8 a.m.
The Black history tour will have stops at the BGCDC’s Club on the Capitol Square, the Wisconsin State Capitol, the graves of Beverly and John Jefferson, and more.
The 50-mile tour ultimately wrap up back at the McKenzie Family Club around 9:30 p.m.
