MADISON, Wis. — Former Madison Mallard had 35 home runs during his first-round matchup in Monday night’s MLB Home Run Derby in Denver, so the Mallards are going to be giving away free beer later this week.
The Mallards announced a promotion for Wednesday’s game before the derby, saying for every homer hit by Alonso during the derby, everyone will get $0.50 off their first beer.
So when Alonso had 35 home runs, the beers became free, but as some fans pointed out, shouldn’t the Mallards be paying $11 then to the fans??
You can by tickets to Wednesday’s game on the Mallards’ website.
Alonso, who won the 2019 Home Run Derby, played for the Mallards in 2014. He had 18 home runs and batted .354.
