MILWAUKEE — Wednesday’s severe weather risk times out right during the Bucks’ NBA Finals match-up, and that’s leading to some concern about the thousands of fans expected in Milwaukee’s Deer District.
Team officials say they’re monitoring the weather and have a plan in place if things turn for the worse. They have a command center in place to protect the safety of the potential 25,000 fans who could be in the district.
If severe weather arrives during the game, team officials will ask fans to go to designated storm shelter areas.
“We’ve got the Deer District buildings as well as parking structures to get people to seek shelter in a quick manner,” Dustin Godsey, Chief Managing Officer of the Bucks, said.
If the severe weather is deemed too much of a risk ahead of the game, team officials can cancel the watch party and close the Deer District to fans not attending the game.
Experts say if you hear thunder or see lightening, you need to go find shelter right away.
