WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — Wisconsin golf legend Andy North opened his latest course design at Trapper’s Turn in Wisconsin Dells Monday.
North says the new set of Par-3 holes, called 12North, was designed to make golf accessible to people of different ages and skill levels and allow everyone to have fun.
“We wanted to create golf holes that looked like real golf holes,” North said. “Sometimes on Par-3 courses they become squinched down and smaller. Just because they’re short doesn’t mean they can’t look like real holes, so we did some pretty good-sized greens, we did some real good bunkering around them.”
North says he designed a 12-hole course because 9 holes sometimes doesn’t feel like enough, but people can lose interest on an 18-hole course.
12North officially opens for play on Tuesday, July 20th. Tee times can be booked online.
Trappers Turn is owned by Kalahari Resorts, but was designed by North, a two-time U.S. Open champion and Madison-area native.
