OSHKOSH, Wis. — Officials at the annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh say they are wrapping up most activities by 5 p.m. Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather.
The National Weather Service in Green Bay alerted organizers of the annual air show of the significant storm threat starting between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the Oshkosh area. As a result, the organization announced just before 4 p.m. that most operations would be closing in the next hour.
The afternoon air show is ending at 5 p.m., and there will be no evening programming tonight. Exhibit buildings, restaurants and other services are also closing at 5, and the airport will reopen for departures between 5 and 8 p.m. as long as weather conditions allow. The Wednesday night air show is also being rescheduled to Thursday night.
Those who bought wristbands for Wednesday events will still have those honored on Thursday. People can exchange their Wednesday bands for Thursday ones at all admission gates on Thursday.
