MADISON, Wis. — Nearly 500 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Wisconsin as the state’s seven-day rolling average of new cases continues on an upward trend.
The state Department of Health Services reported 486 new cases of the virus Monday. That’s a noticeable drop from Friday, when the state recorded over 1,000 new cases in a single day for the first time in almost four months.
Where the state sees rising numbers is in its seven-day rolling average of new cases, which has climbed to 797. The average case count has increased significantly compared to one month ago, where the rolling average was 76 on July 2. The state has reached an all-time total of 622,866 confirmed cases.
According to DHS data, the positive percentage of new COVID-19 tests is at 6.9%.

One more person died of coronavirus complications Monday. Health officials said a total of 7,443 Wisconsinites have died since the start of the pandemic.
More than 52% of the state’s population have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine, while 49.4% have fully completed the vaccine series.
