MADISON, Wis. — Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services are hoping to sweeten the deal when it comes to convincing people to get the COVID-19 vaccine by offering free cream puffs for those who get the shot at the upcoming State Fair.
The governor’s office and DHS officials announced Wednesday there will be an on-site COVID-19 clinic for the duration of the State Fair, running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day from August 5 and August 15.
People who get their shot at the on-site clinic will then get a voucher for a free cream puff at the fair’s Cream Puff Pavilion.
It’s the latest push by state officials to increase Wisconsin’s overall vaccination rate, with 52.1% of the state’s population receiving at least one dose of the vaccine as of Tuesday and 49.5% of the state being considered fully vaccinated.
The State Fair is back this summer after being canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
