Though he broke the news last week, Lancaster Mayor Dave Varnam made his intentions official Tuesday. Varnam has formally announced his bid to run for Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor. In a release, Varnam cited poor leadership from current Governor Tony Evers and his Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes as the reason he’s running for the seat. As for his qualifications, the 3-term mayor says he has kept property taxes and utility fees low for the City of Lancaster. Varnam will run for the Republican party’s nomination to take over the post.
