MADISON, Wis. — A mask mandate will go into effect for all state of Wisconsin employees beginning Thursday.
A memo from the state Department of Administration indicates the mandate also affects contractor staff and will be enforced regardless of employees’ vaccination status.
The policy change has been updated to reflect guidance from public health experts as the delta variant continues to cause a spike in new COVID-19 cases.
Employees must follow the new masking guidance while inside state facilities or working indoors. The DOA also encourages members of the public who are inside state facilities to wear face masks.
“Our goal is to provide a safe environment for Wisconsin state employees and members of the public,” the DOA said in a statement.
