MADISON, Wis. — Two underage suspects tried running away from police after one of them allegedly crashed into a squad car on the westbound Beltline while under the influence of alcohol.
According to a Madison Police Department incident report, the squad car was rear ended on the Beltline near Rimrock Road shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday while the officer was on patrol.
Police said two people in the car that struck the squad car tried running away from the scene, but they were ultimately taken into custody. The individuals, both under the age of 21, had been drinking, police said.
Officers weren’t able to determine who was driving at the time of the crash. The occupants were cited for lack of proof of insurance, resisting an officer, underage drinking and not wearing a seatbelt.
No one was injured in the crash, but two other vehicles were damaged.
