Officials with the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado did touch down Wednesday evening in Iowa County. The agency reports the twister was on the ground around 6:15 about 5 miles northeast of Mineral Point. In its initial report, the weather service said the tornado only touched down briefly and that there was minimal damage. Trained weather spotters observed the tornado. No injuries have been reported in connection to the tornado near Mineral Point.
