Health officials have confirmed 617 new cases of COVID-19 across the state Thursday, as 11 more people have died. The total number of confirmed cases in Wisconsin has reached more than 17-thousand. According to state health officials, of the total cases, roughly 61% have recovered. Health officials also said 553 people have died in Wisconsin due to complications from the virus. Part of the reason for larger daily case counts is due to the increased testing capacity. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said 10,600 tests have been conducted since Wednesday afternoon. With 56 active labs throughout the state, health officials can now run up to 14,753 tests per day. The positive percentage of new COVID-19 tests dropped a percentage point to 4.8%.
Locally, Grant County has reported 93 cases, Crawford County 26 cases, Lafayette County 26 cases, Richland County has had 14 cases, and Iowa County has had 14 cases. In Illinois, Jo Daviess has had 27 cases in all.
