Assistant Madison police chief Vic Wahl, who led the department as acting police chief after Mike Koval abruptly retired in September 2019, sat down with Naomi Kowles on For the Record to look back at his time as interim chief.
Wahl announced his retirement on August 2, but will remain on MPD’s books using accumulated paid time off until January of 2022, he said.
He joined For the Record to discuss the challenges of temporarily leading a department through a turbulent chapter, and the highlights and regrets that come with it.
