TOMAH, Wis. — With more than a dozen organizations working with Fort McCoy to help support the Afghan refugees being housed at the military base, those looking to help have several ways to get involved.
Team Rubicon — a nonprofit comprised of nearly 150,000 military veterans, first responders and civilian volunteers — is working with authorities at Fort McCoy to coordinate volunteer and donation efforts. In a Facebook post shared by leaders at Fort McCoy on Friday, officials said Team Rubicon will help direct volunteers and donations to where they’re most needed.
The American Red Cross, International Rescue Committee, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Catholic Charities of the Diocese of La Crosse are also helping with efforts in the area.
