MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Metropolitan School District’s school board is holding a special meeting ahead of its regularly scheduled meeting tonight to discuss a possible vaccine mandate for teachers.
The MMSD school year is scheduled to get underway later this week. The district would be one of the first in the state to require its teachers to get vaccinated from COVID-19.
The board will discuss a possible resolution that would ask district administrators to come up with a plan to verify employee vaccination status and provide testing for those who aren’t vaccinated.
The resolution would ask to allow for exemptions, whether for medical or religious reasons.
Madison Teachers, Inc. said earlier Monday that it supports the possible mandate.
You can watch the board meeting here and on the News 3 Now/Channel3000 Facebook page starting at 5:30 p.m.
