MADISON, Wis. — Several downtown and campus-area roads will be closed next weekend as hundreds of athletes compete in the Ironman Triathlon.
The race is scheduled to run from 6:45 a.m. until roughly midnight on Sunday, Sept. 12. Competitors will swim in Lake Monona, biking throughout Dane County and running throughout the downtown area.
The following lanes and roads will be closed from roughly 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. for the biking portion:
- The right lane of John Nolen Drive from East Lakeside Street to Monona Terrace
- East Lakeside Street east of John Nolen Drive
- Olin-Turville Court
- East Rusk Avenue from the Alliant Energy Center driveway to Rimrock Road
- Rimrock Road ramps to-and-from the Beltline
- Badger Road west of Rimrock Road
Roads for the run portion of the race are expected to close at 11 a.m. until midnight. The map attached below outlines which roads will be closed off to traffic.
