WAUPUN, Wis. — The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a “serious staff assault” at the Waupun Correctional Institution.
A Wisconsin Department of Corrections spokesperson said in a statement to News 3 Now that a staff member at the facility was hospitalized early last week. The staff member has since been released from the hospital.
Officials didn’t share details about the assault.
Inmates at the facility have been on modified movement since the incident. Authorities are still working to search cell halls related to their investigation, according to the DOC’s statement.
