MONONA, Wis. — Monona police issued a warning to the public Tuesday about a man who they believe has been using an alias and a dating app to find potential targets for a number of crimes.
Authorities said they’ve identified the man as Menes Weightman and believe he’s been using the fake name of Mychael Henderson. Monona police have reportedly been able to tie Weightman to several other Dane County crimes in recent months including stolen vehicles, theft, substantial battery, and robbery.
Police said they believe Weightman might be using the dating app Grindr to find potential victims. His current whereabouts are unknown. He reportedly has contacts and arrests all over the country, including Alaska.
According to a news release, Weightman told multiple victims he was from Texas.
Weightman is 43 years old, balding and muscular, police said. He is believed to be driving a stolen black 2005 Toyota Solara with Wisconsin license plate AKS-4051.
Anyone who Weightman may have victimized is asked to report it to the appropriate jurisdiction. Monona police said they are actively investigating; anyone with information about Weightman or any related incidents is asked to contact the Monona Police Department at 608-222-0463 or Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
