The Platteville School Board has made some alterations to the start of the school year. At a special meeting on Wednesday, board members voted 5 – 4 to adopt a hybrid model using in-person and virtual learning. Under this plan, 4-K thru 6th grade students will attend school 4 days per week in-person, with 1 day online. Students in grades 7 to 12 will have 2 days of in-person learning and 3 days virtually. Administrators will send out specific details regarding what days are in-person or virtual. The school board also gave the superintendent the authority to shift between how much in-school or online learning the district uses based on a formula and local health data. Parents still have the option for students to do virtual-only classes. Some Platteville High School courses will use a third-party company for online instruction. The district is petitioning the state to begin the school year August 31st.
