HIGHLAND, Wis. — State Highway 80 is closed north of Highland due to law enforcement finding a person of interest dead in their vehicle, according to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release officers received a call for assistance in the village of cobb just before 7 p.m. but the offending party was not on scene when they arrived.
Police located the suspect vehicle on Highway 80 later and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers say that the person inside the car was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
No officers discharged a firearm during the duration of the call.
The closure is between Highland and County Highway P.
The sheriff’s office expects to release more information after the scene is released.
