BRODHEAD, Wis. — Police in Brodhead say a man has been arrested after allegedly leading them on a chase that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.
Police say they tried to stop the man for speeding on State Highway 11 at about 10:03 p.m. Thursday, when officers clocked the silver Nissan pickup truck he was driving going 48 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Police say instead of pulling over, the man allegedly turned off his headlights and taillights before leading the officers on the high-speed chase. Officers ultimately stopped following him at State Highway 11 at State Highway 213 in Orfordville due to the highway being closed for a bridge replacement.
Brodhead police say they then called Rock County authorities to notify them of the pursuit. The driver was ultimately stopped by Beloit Police in the area of State Highway 213 (Liberty Ave. in Beloit) and 6th street, and he was arrested by Brodhead police, who were called down to the scene.
The driver received several traffic violation tickets and faces additional potential charges from the Green County District Attorney’s Office of fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, recklessly endangering safety and bail jumping. News 3 Now is not naming him at this time because he has not yet been charged with a crime.
Police say the man was released from the Rock County Jail six days before the chase after previously being charged for burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property.
