A Highland teenager was injured after colliding with a tractor just south of Arthur last Thursday afternoon. The Grant County sheriff’s office says 19-year-old Alexis Miura was driving south on Highway 80 about 1pm. She attempted to pass a tractor – operated by 55-year-old Tim Withrow of rural Platteville. Miura tried to go around the implement as Withrow was turning left into a field. Miura’s vehicle careened off of the tractor and went into the ditch. The tractor’s steering was disabled in the crash and remained in the middle of the highway. Officials say that Miura was taken to Southwest Health. Withrow was not hurt in the crash. Another tractor assisted with removing Withrow’s machinery from the highway. Miura was cited for passing on a hill and passing farm equipment in a no passing zone. The Grant County sheriff’s office reminds drivers it’s illegal to pass farm equipment in a no passing zone, no matter its speed.
