MADISON, Wis. — Two people were killed in separate incidents Friday night, Madison police said.
The first incident occurred just before 8:40 p.m. in the 1700 block of Northport Drive. Arriving officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. Police said the shooting started after an altercation. No arrests have been made.
The second incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Mayfair Avenue. A 35-year-old man was found with a stab wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Police said that the incident does not appear to be random and asked that witnesses come forward with any information that they may have on the incident.
The deaths mark the fifth and sixth homicides in Madison this year and come less than a month after a teen was shot and killed on the city’s north side.

Investigations into both deaths remain ongoing.
