MADISON, Wis. — Three people were taken to the hospital after a crash on Madison’s west side Tuesday.
Fire Department officials said the two-vehicle crash occurred just before 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of South Gammon Road. A Honda CR-V was wedged against an armored vehicle.
The driver of the Honda was pinned inside the vehicle and appeared to be unresponsive. She was extricated and taken to a local hospital. Three people in the other vehicle reported having non-life threatening injuries, but two were taken to the hospital.
While crews were responding to the crash, a school bus full of middle school-aged children pulled over in a nearby lane and smoke could be seen coming from a rear window. The bus was evacuated and the bus driver extinguished the fire. None of the students reported being injured.
The fire temporarily delayed paramedics from taking one of the crash victims to the hospital. MFD crews finally left the area around 5:11 p.m.
