MADISON, Wis. — The season may be over for the Madison Mallards, but they are continuing to work to bring the community together on the city’s north side.
The Duck Pond at Warner Park will be hosting the first-ever Northside Festival between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday with fun for all ages, including a live DJ set from DJ Kayla Kush, a live band performance from the Pocket Park Band, and a showing of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie for kids.
Several food trucks and other vendors are also scheduled to be at the park, offering a variety of food and drink options.
Madison Mallards president Vern Stenman says the club wanted to do something to celebrate all the north side of Madison has to offer.
“There’s a lot of fun things happening with new developments and new restaurants and people moving to this part of time and we’ve always been proud of the north side,” Stenman said. “I think (the festival) is an opportunity for us to kind of celebrate it at the end of a season and say thank you to everyone for their support and kind of bring the entire north side together.”
Admission for the event is free, and anyone wanting to attend will be able to walk through the main gates of the Duck Pond and head onto the ballpark’s outfield. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on and take advantage of the space — including bringing a football or baseball to toss around for fun while enjoying the atmosphere and food.
Organizers say they hope to make the Northside Festival an annual event.
Morgan Murphy Media, the parent company of News 3 Now, is one of the sponsors of the event. You can find out more about the Northside Festival on the Mallards’ website.
