MADISON, Wis. — The newly updated COVID-19 booster vaccines, which better protect against the Omicron variant, are now available in Dane County.
Public Health Madison & Dane County announced it would expand hours so that more people can get the new boosters. That includes adding appointments on weekends.
“These updated boosters vaccines are designed to target the variants that account for most of the current cases in our community right now,” PHMDC director Janel Heinrich said. “With respiratory virus season upon us, these boosters are our best chance to reduce risk of severe illness and fight any potential surges as we head into fall and winter.”
The boosters are available at the South Madison (2230 S. Park St.) and East Washington (2705 E. Washington Ave.) offices. The South Madison office will offer appointments on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. beginning this week. The East Washington office will offer appointments on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
PHMDC will also open recurring walk-in-only clinics at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center and the indoor shelter at Elver Park, while supplies last.
You can schedule an appointment on PHMDC’s website.
