PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. — Work is underway on an addition to the River Arts Center at Sauk Prairie High School.
The school community held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon for the Leola Hall addition to the performing arts center. The facility, named after philanthropist Leola “Lea” Culver, will serve as a “black box” that can fill any number of uses, Culver said.
“It’s basically an empty box. We can put bleachers there and chairs there, we can do little mini-performances there to an audience, we can build sets there for performances on stage, we can have community meetings there, cater in a little lunch there if we want,” she said.

The facility is set to be open by the end of June.
Tuesday’s groundbreaking comes a little more than a month after another ceremony marking the beginning of a project to build a new agriculture education facility at the school. That project is set to be completed by the spring.
