MADISON, Wis. — Bikes 4 Kidz began a renewed push to get free bikes to kids who need them Saturday.
Organizers were out and about during the morning, collecting bikes that will be refurbished over the winter before being handed out throughout the community. Local mechanics and volunteers will work to finish fixing up the bikes by spring. The refurbished bicycles will be donated to local children in need.
“It took us about 2,300 bicycles collected to give away 2,000 bikes because we have some that can’t be saved,” Executive Director Kristie Goforth said. “So that’s what we’re looking for.”
If you have an old bike that you wish to donate, the final dropoff day is November 19. Bikes 4 Kidz has several dropoff stations around Madison as well as a new site at the Two Men and a Truck office in Milwaukee.
