DEFOREST, Wis. — Wisconsin State Patrol troopers arrested a man Monday after they said he led them on a chase outside DeForest.
Officials said the 59-year-old man from Troy, Mich. nearly struck construction barrels while driving north on I-39/90/94. A trooper stopped him and he allegedly exited his car and refused to listen to commands. Officials said he then got back into his car and drove away.
Troopers chased after the man, and other troopers used a tire deflation device to stop him. He was arrested without incident. Troopers allegedly found open intoxicants, a shotgun, ammo and multiple hunting knives after searching his car.
He faces charges of 5th offense operating while under the influence, negligent use of a weapon while intoxicated, possession of open toxicants, deviation from designated lane, operating while suspended, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
News 3 Now is not naming the driver at this time as part of a policy not to name people accused of crimes until they have been formally charged in court. Click here to learn more about the policy. He is currently being held in the Columbia County Jail.
