SAUK COUNTY, Wis. — The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office says an ultralight electric plane had to make an emergency landing on the Wisconsin River Thursday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of the emergency landing at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. According to reports, the pilot was not injured.
The Sauk City Fire Department, the Prairie du Sac Fire Department, Sauk Prairie Ambulance and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the scene and found the pilot standing on a sand bar of the Wisconsin River. The Sauk City Fire Department helped bring the pilot to shore.
The pilot told responders he was flying over the river in the ultralight when he lost power and made a descent before landing on the sandbar. The electric plane was not damaged, according to authorities.
Both the FAA and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources were notified. Authorities did not have any additional information about the emergency landing.
