OREGON, Wis. — The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy shot and killed a man in Oregon Sunday afternoon.
Officials said that around 11 a.m. Sunday, police received an emergency call about a weapons violation and began looking for the suspect.
Four hours later, a deputy found the man in the area of Eagle Drive, south of Jefferson Street.
Sheriff’s officials say at 3:15 p.m. that deputy fired their weapon. Emergency crews were seen performing CPR on the man and MedFlight was called in, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be released once next of kin is notified.
Neighbors in the area tell News 3 Now that they heard three gunshots.
The Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation has taken over the investigation.

One neighbor said he saw a car drive quickly in the area. A person then got out of the car, used a door as a shield, and yelled “Drop your weapon.”
After that, the neighbor said he heard the gunshots.
