BRODHEAD, Wis. — Brodhead police recovered a stolen car Sunday just two hours after they said the car was reported stolen.
Officers were called to the intersection of East 9th Avenue and 13th Street just before 4:15 a.m. after a caller reported seeing people throwing items out of a vehicle into the street and leaving the area.
The vehicle was traced back to a home in the 1000 block of East 9th Avenue. The homeowner told police that their car was missing from the driveway and the items in the street belonged to them. The homeowner said they had the keys to the car with them, but they had left the car unlocked
At around 6 a.m., police found the missing car at a home in the 1600 block of 19th Street. It had crashed into a garden. Police said there was extensive damage to the inside of the vehicle.
