EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Eau Claire Police Department on Tuesday released video of a crash in which an alleged drunk driver smashed into another vehicle before rolling over and hitting another vehicle.
The crash happened around 9:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Menomonie Street and Clairemont Avenue on the city’s southwest side.
The video shows a dark-colored sedan attempting to make a turn onto Menomonie Street. The vehicle then leaves the road and drives over the median, smashing into a stopped vehicle waiting to turn right onto Clairemont Avenue. The impact causes the sedan to roll over and hit a third vehicle.
All parties involved avoided life-threatening injuries, according to ECPD. Police arrested the driver for first-offense OWI and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. Police say his blood alcohol content was 0.242, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08.
