VERONA, Wis. — Family members, friends and neighbors of a 51-year-old man last seen Monday searched Fireman’s Park in Verona on Friday hoping to find him.
John Ramseier was last seen Monday night in the area of Melody Circle and Melody Lane. A police K-9 tracked Ramseier’s scent to the park, prompting volunteers to organize Friday’s search.

James Woerpel, a family friend who helped organize the search, told News 3 Now an afternoon search crew covered the park well, so efforts spread out along the Ice Age Trail and Badger Prairie areas.
“The community has really come together to support them but they are, of course, still in shock,” Woerpel said.
Friends said a camera spotted Ramseier at the Fitchburg Target. His phone later showed he stopped at home, but after leaving his phone behind he disappeared.
Ramseier’s family did not want to speak on camera but thanked the community for its support and asked for privacy.
People have put up flyers in Verona, Fitchburg, New Glarus and beyond in the hopes that someone will recognize him.
Ramseier is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 170 pounds. He is bald and wears glasses.
On Saturday, police said that a K9 tracked Ramseier’s scent to Military Ridge State Trail. It is unclear whether the scent was left before or after he went missing, but police have asked users of the trail to be on the lookout and report anything that may be related to the search.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Verona Police Department at 608-845-7623.
