MADISON, Wis. — Dane County is on track to see voter turnout of at least 85%, the county’s clerk said.
Dane County Clerk Scott McDonell said multiple clerks reported “steady to high turnout” at polling places across the county.
He said initial projections suggest the county will see about an 85% voter turnout but later tweeted that number could be higher.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m., McDonell tweeted he had to reorder some ballots.
“I ordered a lot of ballots. So take that as some sort of tea leaf,” he wrote.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, over a quarter of Madison’s pre-registered voters have had a ballot counted.
The City of Madison Clerk’s Office said 47,551 ballots have been counted so far. That’s about 27% of the city’s pre-registered voters.

Madison saw over 23,000 people vote in-person absentee leading up to Election Day, and a total of 54,684 absentee ballots had been returned as of Monday morning.
