MADISON, Wis. — The City of Madison says street crews will continue to treat the city’s major roads as snow continues to fall into Wednesday.
Officials say trucks will continue to salt routes through the evening commute and into the night hours. Roads are expected to remain wet with the continued snowfall, so drivers are being urged to drive slowly and patiently.
A total of 32 Streets Division trucks began working on the city’s salt routes just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and have remained on the road ever since, plowing and salting as needed. The trucks work on routes used by Madison Metro buses and areas around schools and hospitals.
As a reminder, residential streets that are not considered salt routes are only plowed when there are more than three inches of snow on the ground and the storm is nearing its end, and also never receive salt.
You can find updates from the city on plowing and salting operations, free sand locations, and parking regulation reminders on the city’s winter website.
