MADISON, Wis. — Morocco made history in this year’s World Cup, making it farther in the tournament than any other African or Arab team in history before ultimately falling to defending champion France in this year’s semi-finals.
But it’s a run many soccer fans — including a group of students and parents with Moroccan ties in Madison — are sure to remember.
The Madinah Academy of Madison, a private elementary school on the city’s west side, hosted a watch party Wednesday for students and parents as Morocco played in the historic match.
While their team was ultimately eliminated, it was an experience for everyone to remember. News 3 Now photojournalist Lance Heidt was there to capture the kids’ reactions as the match played out.
