MADISON, Wis. — A downtown Madison bar is keeping up with a longstanding holiday tradition.
Mondays on State Street is once again decked out in holiday lights and decorations.
Owner Gary Garten said the tradition started in the late 1980s and has grown every year since. Each year the festive display changes.
“My manager is an artist and he designs it every year,” Garten said, “and he has been the master of ceremonies ever since.”
This year’s display features a couple thousand ornaments alone and countless lights. Garten said it takes hundreds of dollars to put on the display every year.
