MONTELLO, Wis. — A deputy from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office suffered minor injuries when a passing vehicle hit their squad car while they were responding to a call on Interstate 39 Friday night, the sheriff’s office said.
In a Facebook post Tuesday night, the sheriff’s office said the deputy was helping another motorist on the highway when the crash happened. The deputy was inside the squad car with emergency lights flashing when the passing vehicle hit them.
The post did not say whether the driver of the passing vehicle was cited.
The crash was the second on an interstate highway in Wisconsin over the weekend to leave a deputy hurt; on Sunday, a deputy in Jefferson County ended up in the hospital after a vehicle hit his squad car while he was helping a tow truck operator on the highway.
