SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — If you stopped by the grocery store Wednesday night, odds are it took you a bit longer to get what you need. Lines were long and aisles were packed with people stocking up to hunker down for the blizzard.
News 3 Now’s Arman Rahman caught up with some of those last-minute shoppers at the Pick’n Save on Sun Prairie’s east side.
“I’m trying to get the last of the food before the storm hits,” Fred Frenczak said. “I do not plan on leaving the house until Saturday or Sunday now. I’m too old, I get too cold!”
Also shopping on Wednesday was Andrew Kohrt.
“(I’m) just doing a last-minute scramble to hopefully find a rib roast for Christmas Eve, grab some other things for the wife and just random tidbits as I walk along,” he said.
Store manager Christopher Larson said it was a one-two punch with the holidays causing some to pick up food for last-minute events and others to swing by to grab some essentials in case they have to stay home for a few extra days.
Employees had prepared the store’s inventory ahead of the spike in business.
“We’ve got extra trucks, filling the shelves, people have really utilized the ClickList and getting the online orders. We’ve seen a big increase in that,” Larson said.
On its website, Pick ‘n Save said it will be limiting deliveries during the storm for the safety of its employees.
