MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Streets Division warned that all streets will be snow-covered Thursday.
According to a morning update from the city, cold temperatures led all trucks to begin applying sand on the road instead of salt.
“Once it gets this cold, the salt at the rate we apply it doesn’t work,” Bryan Johnson from the Madison Streets Division said on Wednesday.
They are applying the sand on hills, curves, and intersections to help provide traction.
The cold temperatures are expected to continue through the weekend, and the Streets Division says to expect roads to remain snow-covered until the weather warms up.
