BELOIT, Wis. — First responders have recovered the body of a 57-year-old woman who fell into the Rock River north of Beloit on Friday, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office said.
Rescuers were called to the area of the 6500 block of South Edgewater Drive in the town of Rock around 11:45 a.m. after the woman fell through the ice and could no longer be seen.
The woman’s body was found under the river, which was covered in ice, around 5:30 p.m. and turned over to the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office, Sgt. David Rossmiller said.
Further details, including how the woman fell into the river, were not immediately available.
