MADISON, Wis. – “Remitts” raised a record-setting amount for local food pantries in 20-22. That’s the group of volunteers we featured who make mittens out of old wool sweaters and donate the proceeds.
That record-breaking number comes out $110,840 for last year alone.
Since their founding in 2009, they’ve raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars for local food pantries.
If you’d like to help, they are always in need of wool sweaters to continue making the colorful mittens you see at more than 30 locations around Dane County.
They work year-round for the November to December selling season.
