The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it is still working to contain a wildfire near Fort McCoy that is burning about 2,800 acres of land. The fire, which officials have named the Arcadia Fire, started Wednesday on the base’s northeast border, potentially the result of a controlled burn that was part of a training exercise, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The DNR says as of about 9 a.m. Thursday, the fire was only 48% contained. No injuries have been reported, but three buildings have been damaged so far and one shed is being considered a total loss.
